The Research Summer School in Statistical Omics 2016 will be held at the Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences (MedILS), Mestrovicevo setaliste bb, 21000 Split, Croatia. Participants will be accommodated in comfortable two- and three-bed air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms and high-speed internet access. Three meals will be provided by the School (a full meal for lunch and snacks, cereals, sandwiches, etc. for breakfast and dinner). Sport facilities (such as basketball court and table tennis equipment) are available at the site.


How to get to MedILS?

By plane – Split

During the season, there are many direct international flights to Split. Split Airport is located in Kaštel Štafilić, some 20 kilometres from the city centre. There is a direct bus from the Airport organized by the Pleso prijevoz company and the price for one way ticket is 30 kuna (~4 Euro). Taxi is also available (beware of high prices), as well as a public bus with the stop for lines no. 37 and 38 next to the airport. From the bus station in Split take a walk to the western part of the harbour (5 minutes walk, passing by Diocletian palace), and take the bus no 12, immediately next to the St. Francis Church (Sveti Frane). Ask for the stop nearest to Tito’s villa. After leaving the bus, walk back for few hundred meters in the direction you came from. Entrance is on your right; at the guard post ask for directions to MEDILS.

By plane – Zagreb

From the Zagreb Airport take a bus in front of the exit from the Airport building (Pleso prijevoz company; price 35 kuna) to the Zagreb Bus Station. From the Bus Station buses for Split are leaving every half an hour but make sure to make your reservations on time because of the season rush. From the bus station in Split take a walk to the western part of the harbour (5 minutes walk, passing by Diocletian palace), and take the bus no 12, immediately next to the St. Francis Church (Sveti Frane). Ask for the stop nearest to Tito’s villa. After leaving the bus, walk back for few hundred meters in the direction you came from. Entrance is on your right; at the guard post ask for directions to MEDILS.

By bus/train

There are both trains and buses leaving daily from Zagreb to Split, leaving from Bus station and Main station, respectively. From the bus station in Split take a walk to the western part of the harbour (5 minutes walk, passing by Diocletian palace), and take the bus no 12, immediately next to the St. Francis Church (Sveti Frane). Ask for the stop nearest to Tito’s villa. After leaving the bus, walk back for few hundred meters in the direction you came from. Entrance is on your right; at the guard post ask for directions to MEDILS.
